Slow Motion Climbing
Description
The "Slow Motion Climbing" drill is designed to enhance your body positioning and tension while climbing. This focused approach reveals both strengths and areas for improvement, allowing you to make conscious adjustments to your climbing technique. You may be wondering why this isn't in the Strength & Endurance Drills section. Though this drill can be more physically challenging and will likely build strength, the focus is on adjusting your body position and techniques to support movement.
Instructions
Route Selection : Begin by selecting the first route you’ve identified for this drill. Slow-Motion Ascent : Start your climb, making sure to execute each movement as if you were in slow motion. Attention to Detail : Take your time with each transition from hold to hold. Pay careful attention to your hand and foot placements, ensuring that you maintain proper body tension throughout.
Notes & Tips
This drill is similar to the “Hover Hands” drill, but places an added emphasis on active adjustments in your body positioning. Moving slowly will highlight any imbalances or weaknesses, providing you with actionable insights for improvement. If the drill proves too challenging on the selected routes, consider choosing easier routes to focus on your technique.
