Description

The "Locked Hover Hands" drill takes the classic hover hands exercise and adds an extra layer of difficulty by incorporating bent arms. This will challenge your lock-off strength and fine-tune your motor control. It will improve lock-off strength and control while performing hover hands, thereby enhancing stability and arm engagement during climbing.

Instructions

Initial Grip : Start climbing the chosen route with your arms slightly bent, maintaining this locked position. Hovering : As you climb, hover your hand over each hold for 3-5 seconds before gripping it. Locked Arms : Keep your arms bent at a consistent angle as you hover over each hold. Smooth Transition : Aim for smooth transitions between holds, keeping your arm’s bend consistent. Focus on Form : Pay attention to maintaining the bent-arm position while also performing the hover hands challenge. Completion : Finish the route while maintaining this consistent form.

Notes & Tips

Remember, the purpose of this drill is twofold: to build lock-off strength and develop body position awareness. Keep your movements deliberate and controlled. Keep your shoulders down and back while you complete this drill to minimize strain on the shoulder scrunching muscles.
