Hip Taps
Description
The Hip Taps drill is designed to build your pivoting skills, refine your hip movements, and improve overall body positioning on the wall. Mastering hip positioning can make your climbing more efficient and versatile. Additionally, this will help you focus on engaging your core and using your hips for momentum and balance.
Instructions
Hip Tapping: Before each hand moves, tap the wall with the corresponding hip. For example, if you are moving your left hand, tap your left hip to the wall first, then move your hand.
Notes & Tips
This drill can be more challenging on overhanging routes due to the need for stronger core engagement and more deliberate hip movement. However, it’s also a particularly useful skill for such routes. Therefore, consider incorporating overhangs when selecting routes for this drill.
