Corks and Pennies
Description
The "Corks and Pennies" drill is designed to refine your footwork and improve your precision on the wall. By adding small objects like pennies or corks to the footholds, you challenge yourself to be more accurate with 27 your foot placements. This is a great drill for climbers who want to hone their technique.
Instructions
Start the Climb : Begin climbing the route you’ve selected with pennies or corks on the footholds. Avoid the Objects : The aim is to complete the route without touching the pennies or corks on the footholds. Complete the Drill : You will have completed the drill if you manage to climb the route without disturbing the pennies or corks.
Notes & Tips
If you find that the drill is not challenging enough and you can climb the route without any issues, consider selecting a more difficult route and placing pennies or corks on its footholds. The goal is to emphasize precision and control, especially in your footwork. As you get better at this drill, you can also increase the difficulty by using smaller footholds or by climbing more complex routes. Always be aware of how you feel during the drill; if you notice any signs of fatigue or discomfort that could lead to injury, it’s important to rest.
